A reporter for the hard right Catholic TV network EWTN suggested President Joe Biden is failing in his call for unity because he has reaffirmed support for Roe v. Wade and rescinded the Republican foreign policy "gag rule" that bans the use of U.S. aid to NGOs for abortion referrals, counseling, or even the advocacy of decriminalizing abortion.
"President Biden has stated he wants to unite the country, and the first two weeks he's been in office however, much to the great disappointment of pro-life Americans, he has revoked the Mexico City policy, he has ordered a review of Title X, and issued a statement strongly supporting Roe v. Wade," Eternal Word Television Network's Owen Jensen told White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
"Is the President going to make any effort to reach out to pro-life Americans in his administration?" he asked.

Psaki was to nice, me on the other hand would have said.... do you think that the murder of doctors committed by zealots of religion is appropriate, when it comes to privacy and choice............

Jen Psaki is patient (up to a point), polite, calm, reasonable, and overwhelmingly prepared.

(82,849 posts)To the best of my knowledge, if you don't want to have an abortion, Mr. Jensen, there is no law on the books that will stop you from not having an abortion. Also, the President feels that legislators should legislate and medical professionals should practice medicine, and a great many bad things follow when legislators try to practice medicine, particularly when they are not in close consultation with medical professionals.
But you get right back to me, will you Mr. Jensen, if anyone tries to stop you from not having an abortion, and I will deal with it swiftly and personally. Can I count on you to do that?

BUT they were also pro poor, anti war and anti discrimination.
The current pope is closer to what I remember what the church was about in the 60's, 70's.

(28,844 posts)They are the ones wanting to amend the Constitution. They are the ones arguing this Law of standing as they say. Legal abortion is legal. They want Biden to do something currently illegal.

(7,285 posts)Recently I've been seeing Ronald Reagan Jr's ads on Freedom From Religion Foundation. I love it. The last remark he makes in it, is something to the effect of : "I'm a life long Atheist and No, I'm Not afraid of Burning in Hell when i die." Said with a wry little smile which I adore.
I honestly hope Biden does not reach out to these nut jobs, there is no unity with cult freaks, and religious zealots.

(554 posts)They only care about the mother giving birth. No support to the pregnant women and once the birth occurs, they care stops. And then they ignore the rest of Jesus' teachings.
