Here is the 285-page, $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit that election tech company Smartmatic filed today in state court in Manhattan against Fox, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell: https://smartmatic.com/uploads/Smartmatic_Complaint_Against_Fox_Corporation.pdf

(16,616 posts)Those look like mostly Fox Business Channel personalities.
Maybe for some reason Fox News was spared in this lawsuit, or maybe a second is coming?

(3,044 posts)There are functionally no consequences for many of these lies in most media. The Trump and Q supporters will follow any fool statement (mirrors are being installed on some house roofs as I type to deflect space lasers, I am sure). There is no meaningful FCC or other ethics body that can or will do anything against broadcast lies. Twitter and FB have reluctantly and finally done some things but I doubt they will stick with it or broaden it unless they too face consequences of some sort for fomenting lies and giving voice ro dangerous conspiracy theories and conspiracies.
I really would like the states' Secretaries of State and local election officials file suits against these sort of folks as well. I think they have been slandered and defamed individually and as a group and have had to suffer deaths threats and questions of their professional skills and dedication that are way beyond the pale of what a public official should have to endure.

(1,535 posts)......recite the facts and make the case perfectly. Compare this to the word salad that Trumps lawyers threw at the courts after the election.
