I have a question about Covid-19

Anyone live somewhere where there is a curfew because of Covid-19?

I have to say I don’t understand why they would institute a curfew as a COVID-19 measure. How does that help? I understand the mask mandate. I understand banning large group gatherings. But how does making me be home by 10 keep me safe from a virus. I mean, if I get in my car and drive around by myself at 3am or take a walk by myself, how is that any more unsafe (virus wise) than doing the same thing at 6pm?

The theory was that the longer people sit around, the more they drink, the less they observe covid precautions.

The hope is that it will discourage and decrease mobility among populations with the highest infection rates who are also most likely to be out late at night," Anne Rimoin, PhD, MPH, professor of epidemiology at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, tells Health. "The thinking behind this is that people who are out past 10 p.m. and before 5 a.m., doing things other than grocery shopping or other essential tasks, may be out at bars or restaurants or at events where they are likely to let their guard down and be less likely to wear a mask or social distance. The biggest impact of a curfew is likely that it is a signal about the seriousness of the situation—and how we all need to limit contact with others."

Although I’m one of those weirdos who likes to get in my car and drive around in the middle of the night. If I go anywhere it’s to a convenience store. I don’t go to bars. I do like to go to restaurants but not so much since COVID.

Because they’d get careless and spread it, not because alcohol interferes with the antibiotic.

NC, but I’m not sure... I’m in a college town, bars and restaurants limited in seating capacity, and actually I think bars aren’t operating for in house seating...

It certainly would keep the college kids contained ..

The closing of bars and restaurants go hand-in-hand with the curfew. However bars and restaurants that ignore it can lose their liquor license or they can be shuttered by the local law.

How can the authorities shut down the private parties that can also be super spreaders?
By curfew.
