I live in Colorado - which of course is getting blasted by commercials from both candidates (although I admit I've seen a lot more Obama commercials).
Why all these ads with a voice over explaing what Romney has said? Why not use videos of Romney with his own words, which are devastating? I hate to say this but I'm beginning to feel like there is major incompetence in the Obama campaign right now.
Check out the article (and video) below. This is devastating shit for Romney and there should be one on the auto industry (there are plenty of video saying "let the auto industry go bankrupt" straight out of Romney's mouth). Now perhaps there are ads being run like this in Ohio (anybody from Ohio feel free to chime in) but right now the ads we're getting here just don't seem to be nearly as powerful as they could be.

(35,361 posts)could it possibly be they need permission from or maybe have to pay a huge sum of money to the networks to use the videos?

(44,974 posts)There are ads on youtube that people made about Romney's flip-flops presumably with very little money. So why couldn't Obama's campaign put something together for TV ads?

(24,411 posts)...and frankly, I still don't understand. We've got the one ad that shows Romney's debate remarks--and then clips of the "47 percent" speech. This is good.
However, as you point out--it would be so effective to show Romney's debate lies--then immediately cut to Romney's own words that contradict his debate lies. This could easily be done with the Medicare/voucher issue and also with the $5 trillion tax-cut issue.
I'm in a swing state too. I see a lot of ads. However, I haven't seen exactly what you are suggesting--Romney vs. Romney. I see Romney--then video of Andrea Mitchell contradicting Mitt or video of quotes from think tanks.
I asked the same thing yesterday, and I was attacked and told to get a clue, etc. I'd love to know why these ads don't exist. I work in public relations/media relations and I'm curious from a professional perspective. Why isn't this obvious, low-hanging fruit being picked?
Here's a link to my post, asking essentially the same thing that you did.

(4,119 posts)They could probably put together a half hour of Mitt contradicting himself on various issues. It would be the perfect ad. No other voice, just him.

(35,361 posts)left leaning pundits from MSNBC in an ad just isn't going to be very effective, you're low information Fox watching voters will just ignore them.
