I adore President Obama and Mrs. Obama. None of them could have convinced me to attempt a coup

Maybe I should be more sympathetic. I know I've heard that you have to give people an off ramp
I'm just not so convinced when it happens so quickly after being arrested. Are you really sorry? Or just sorry you got caught?

Just watched the Qanon Shaman's lawyer on CNN. He went on about the Shaman and others really admired trump. The shaman feels trump let him down, blah blah blah. Poor innocent kid was brainwashed just like the people in Guyana under Jim Jones' spell.

I'm not interested in feeling sorry for him or anyone else that claims they were brainwashed and did horrendous things because of trump.

Like I said, as much as I admire President Obama, and there are others that I consider my heroes, heroines. None of them could convince me to participate in a violent coup or anything heinous.

These are adults.
I had sympathy and empathy for Lee Boyd Malvo who was a child when he was given away by his mother to the DC Sniper and subsequently brainwashed to commit horrific murders as a child. I have sympathy because this kid never had a chance. Never had someone to mold him so that he had a choice to think differently.

These grown ass folks have no excuse.

he tried to say the election was stolen in the face of an overwhelming defeat like this, I would have had to cut him loose. I would have abandoned him for trying such nonsense.

2. If I heard of all the death threats they never mentioned to the public, I might think differently.

Surely there were many plots and threats.

I miss the whole family.

3. I think most of them have no real strength of personality--

And the ones who are 'strong' are mostly criminals.

I think arresting them all will be a useful lesson. They seemed to think they were in a paintball game or something. Real-life consequences might wake them up.

But probably it will just add to their sense of grievance. Most will blame "the Dems" rather than blame Trump.

It would be abhorrent to them, the very thought.

I am not the least bit sorry for the Trump terrorists. Violent white men always get the benefit of the doubt - "brainwashed, mentally ill, economically anxious" a whole long list of excuses. SICK OF IT.

surprising..very high percentages for Trump but he got the same percentages this year so I was wrong. Even though I really thought the 16 election was stolen a coup never occurred to me...just that next time we needed a bigger win that could not be stolen. I have no sympathy for these sore losers who tried to bring down the Republic for an asshole like Trump. Lock them all up.

9. That is the difference. Right there. Rational people would walk away in horror.

Irrational, magically thinking, christofascists would and did follow lock step. The difference between a rational critically thinking mind, and an irrational, fantasy-laden mind with no concept of reality.

10. Has there even been a time when either party clung to the prior president?

Acting like he's their savior -- weird as all get out. I'll never understand why. He did absolutely nothing good (if you know of something, let me know) and he did a lot of harm right up and until Jan 6th. Other than his appeal to a weird group, what is his power over the entire party that they'd fall on their own swords for him.
