Writing in Vanity Fair this Monday, Peter Hamby contends that when it comes to Donald Trump's political and public future, he'll go the way of Sarah Palin.

"These days Palin has receded to a historical footnote and a punch line for a news media that's become even more cocooned in its urban bubble since 2008, with Trump now receiving most of the credit for upending the presumed order of national politics," Hamby writes. "But it was Palin who opened the door for Trump, the first politician to fuse together backlash politics and anti-elitism with the mighty American power of celebrity."

This is a way to put blame on a woman who at one moment in time had some influence only because Republican leadership put her on the national stage without proper vetting. When she started her inflammatory & racist rhetoric, the Republican Party should have shut her up—taken her off the ticket even. Oh, but they couldn't cuz the party has been courting the zealots, racists, & loons for decades. And the media? Well they should have shamed both the party & Palin. But ratings won out.

Even if the Con recedes & I think he will, we still have this radical element on the right that is increasingly disconnected & dangerous & I don't hear any plans of how to deal with it. Not that I have any ideas. But there are going to be more Marjorie Taylor Greens in the next congress, count on it.

fully of Teabaggers downtown... many carry guns. Today I would never think of attending anything with Republicans present.
