They will once again claim that they hadn't seen it!

That seems to be their MO.

They want to keep their eyes on other things - maybe because they are afraid that the video might change their minds.

It's intended to convey disinterest and that it's not worth their time.

It's actually more aggravating than if they were just cowards. They're not hiding from it. They're saying it isn't important.
