Some different mob attacked. Imagine Donnie actually has nothing to do with it.
Then what?
Congress was violently attacked, police officers died protecting our seat of government and the people who work there and represent us.
And our president basically did nothing.
A real president would have jumped to the defense of our nation and our government. Checked up on people on both sides of the aisle. Reassured the nation that we pushed back the coup attempt because that's not how we resolve our difference.
Frankly, what Donnie did and didn't do *during and after* the coup is itself is enough for an impeachment and removal. Even if he has nothing to do with causing it.
He failed to defend properly us against an attack. That's an impeachable offense. ... Another impeachable offense.

No f***ing way would the building have been left that unprotected if it wasn't Trump's own crew doing the job.
Period.

(52,253 posts)Maybe putin or q was behind it, who knows. Point is, even in a hypothetical alternate universe where somehow Donnie was innocent of causing it, he *still* should be impeached and convicted and barred from office based on his response or lack thereof.

(32,626 posts)the Capitol Police, the National Guard, surrounding police departments, Secret service...and on, and on, and on. No one else would have been allowed to be there in the first place without a permit. Knowing way ahead of time these people were coming, and were planning this crap, and they rolled out the red carpet.
I think it might bother me more that the amount of people it took to pull this off is not exposed.
The intel and security failures are startling

(15,221 posts)...Republican Senators would be frothing at the mouth about the danger to the country from such a frightening attack.
Instead of the "let's just try to move forward and heal" attitude they have now, they'd be gleefully trying to pass draconian surveillance laws that make the Patriot Act seem quaint.
