Is it just me or have an unusually large number of famous people died in 2021?

Hal Holbrook
Cicely Tyson
Cloris Leachman
Larry King
Hank Aaron
Phil Spector
Christopher Pllummer
Leon Spinks
and more....

Seems odd to me. So many. Maybe the all just wanted to live to see Trump out.

the elderly. Because of covid.

But a lot of the famous people I've noticed who died have died from other things.

Maybe someone could crunch the numbers, but it would require a definition of "famous" and analysing multiple years of data for a baseline to care to.

In the old days large numbers of people would not be familiar with famous people in the way things have been since Movies, TV etc .

It's just the times .

She was 104. There are photos of her riding her bicycle near her home in Paris taken just a week before she died. She was incredible.

if it's some prominent cultural icon .

But with Trump he sucked everything up for 4+ years .

We can see this clearly with how much we are discussing different things now which we could have been doing even before .

So, they lived a good life and served as release values for whenever we needed to let off steam, or needed the escape from reality.

I was sort of surprised that some of them hadn't already died years before.

Every single year people die, including numbers of those we all know about (celebrities) and it tends to catch us by surprise.

Yeah, I personally have noticed a lot of famous people over the age of 90 who have passed recently, but that may well be a simple case of observer bias.
