Trump is here because these profit motivated “liberal” media companies gave Trump the oxygen to further his outrageous behavior to drive click bate. That is how shallow these clowns are. This is literally why our democratic institutions were just existentially threatened. Never forget this. My point? This new found and accidental center left coalition MUST be leveraged to marginalize and shut out this weirdo and dangerous strain of wingnut authoritarianism. The enemy of our enemy is our friend. So a foundation of alliance exist with disaffected patriotic Republicans. Welcome them in the big tent. BTW I am Korean and a large part of my family is dead or missing do to crazy whacko wingnuts. My grandmother used to rub rice on their hands. Why? Paranoid and brainwashed Communists would rub your hands to see if you are an intellectual so they can hall you off and execute you is a hell of an experience. The rice made their hands course..ie “laborers.” My family survived because they rubbed rice on their hands so that when the communist invaders inspected them, they would think they were laborers.

2. I would think it's more that "Trump is here because" conservative elites realized he could

be useful to their multi-various agendas (from the Christian Nationalists to the Mercers, the Kochs, fossil fuel, anti-government, anti-tax, anti-choice, climate change deniers, real estate moguls, proponents of deregulation, conservative think tanks, etc.) and pushed his opponents out of the way, and then outlets like Fox, Breitbart, InfoWars jumped on board. But I'm hesitant to leave it at that, since there were undeniably other factors. No doubt he made money for media interests, but so many powerful organizations and corporations had been waiting in desperation for an impressionable, easily manipulated, racist, apolitical charismatic leader who could be told what to do for decades and decades. He was a dream come true for a lot of scumbags.

Last but not least, Putin really liked the idea of an imbecile running the most powerful country on earth.
