keep that in mind whenever you see such and such percent of Republicans believe this or that.
That is the percent of 25%, so when 60% of Republicans approve of something or someone, that is only 15% of the voters.
You will never see this simple fact referenced when the media reports on these polls.

(58,662 posts)I suspect they will still vote repub for the most part, but the skewing of the polls has to be accounted for.

(36,478 posts)Yesterday there was an article about thousands of registered repubs leaving the Republican Party, but 11 million more people voted for Trump in 2020 than in 2016. This is after four years of seeing what a vile, crude POS he is. Trumpism is about to hijack the Republican Party. What will the "moderates" do? Start a third party? How successful have third parties been in our history? I think you are right that they will continue to vote repub behind the curtain.

I guess there were plenty of so-called Independents that heard his racist diatribes, and liked them.

(19,066 posts)40% of Republicans agree with political violence. That means 10%. Sounds pretty small, that's still 33 Million people. We live in a country with 33 million people who would be OK with killing Dems for Reps to hold onto power.

I agree - it is rarely if ever stated on MSM! It's all "95% of R's support drumpf," yada yada. But how many AMERICANS / voters does that represent?
Appreciate the info.
Do you have a cite or link? I'm interested in numbers for Ds, Is.

(57,099 posts)... start applying rule of law to the RW. We let them know bullying on any level is not tolerated, from blocking sidewalks armed to bombs. We get rid of plea bargaining, particularly without a full accounting of what were their crimes and disarming them completely. They don't want convicts to vote, well I don't want gun-hugging RW criminals armed.
And this is one value I picked up here totally from DU: take guns away from anyone at any opportunity - being on bail, being charged with a gun crime, being on a peace warrant, any scintilla of domestic violence, (there's a longer list).
If we're going to parse out the 2nd amendment then "well organized" seems pretty clear. 41,000 gun deaths in 2020 don't seem too indicative of "well organized" to me. With that kind of mortality rate one would expect the military to stand down and fix the problem. Our "militias" might want to become "regulated".
