has not been mentioned: the transparent and abject stupidity of several of the Republican senators.
How can one be expected to "reason with" the likes of Tuberville, Lee, Blunt or Blackwell? They would likely vote for their own execution if Trump patted them on the head and told them the "radical left-wing socialist extremists" were voting against it.
Their motto could be "Doh!---"

(11,738 posts)He is not stupid. Stupid can be a combination of ignorance or lack of intellectual capacity. Rubio is neither. He is worse. Rubio is intelligent. He feigns stupidity to "fit in" which as you said, is cowardly. He is a craven little piece of shit. You can almost pity stupidity, some people are just not that smart, but they try and it makes you think, "wow, they are really trying but they just can't get it" Rubio gets it, but chooses to act like a jackass regardless. At least in my opinion, that is one of the worst traits in a person.

(15,122 posts)He definitely has the rube act down pat. But he is 100% coward!

(11,738 posts)I know that is not possible, but Rubio makes it work. He rolled over and showed his belly during the campaign when Trump didn't back down and he has been licking boots ever since.

(11,738 posts)The OP is talking about stupid Senators who will be voting on conviction without enough brainpower to do the job.
Tuberville is a prime example. Dumb as a rock. Couldn't even name the 3 branches of Federal government. My 10 year old can name the 3 branches.

(801 posts)Remind Mr. Cruz that he insited rioting and sedition on charges that "the election was stolen form us". Ask him if he still believes that today, and whatever his answer, ask him what real proof he has- not hearsay, not opinions, not what he has heard, but real proof. "Here's your chance, either put up or shut up!" Get him to admit on camera, that he has no proof, that there is not proof. Then ask him, "after hearing all of this overwhelming evidence of tRumph's guilt, how could you possibly not vote to convict? Why do you continue to put party over country? What does the donald have on you?????"

(49 posts)actually take their oath of office seriously and put America First? If they did the Orange Poo Slinging Monkey would have been bounced the first time.
I miss that America and that is what the majority of Americans want once again.
I do not think we will be seeing that America again for a long time. The GOP has done too much damage to democracy, America and the World. The planning started before Rancid Ronnie and continues to this day, few payed attention. They thought they would be able to control Twitler, like Rancid Ronnie who always stuck to the script as did Bush Sr and Bush the Lessor, but they did not fully realize who really was controlling Twitler and there was nothing they could do about it else they all would have been voted out of office, they fear the trash that votes for them, the same trash they have been methodically cultivating for decades. They have no choice to but to keep going and destroy democracy and install fascism, that has always been the goal of the GOP, even in Lincoln's Day.
