"THEY came NOT to praise Caesar but to BURY him..."

Those Congress men and women are the FUTURE of the Senate.

I believe this. I live in a town that drove the Chinese from town in 1880s Chinese Exclusion Act. The town fathers: mayor, sheriff, preachers, newspaper editors, dog catcher, business leaders, fire chief -- all involved in that dreadful night. Burned the China town shacks down, cut the fire hoses as a priest screamed at them to have charity for the Chinese who ran laundries, sold veggies, cleaned houses, undercut Labor because they were forced to work for half wages. They were the enemy. They who brought the railroad to the West -- our town the Western terminus of the Great Northern railroad. Their blood and tears...their coolie hats and rice bowls... their actions and those of black men with TNT blowing up passes no white man except an Irish one -- expendable too -- was ever asked to do. Labor riots between Irish and management. Vicious. WOBBLY wars. SUNDOWN TOWNS for blacks. That is history.

It was so ugly. No Asians in my town for years after. Except Japanese herded up later in WW2. And me with my military father...

My point? NONE of the ones who did the deed ever thrived. They slowly lost their positions, were treated like pariahs, embarrassments to their descendants who hid their crimes...I only re-covered these stories in library stacks of old articles and microfiche rolls...NEVER forget... HISTORY is brutal. It does not ever forget because we don't let it... The pendulum of history will swing back...

Our Democratic managers are heroes... Make no mistake...Marc Antony's Ides of March speech, "THEY came NOT to praise Caesar but to BURY him..."

Town officials had to apologize to get Chinese to bring ships here in 70s. OUR TOWN ATE CROW and APOLOGIZED because China refused to send a single ship here for 100 years...
We built a damn park over the China town on Ruston Way . We honored the priest by naming a creek after him...the preacher and newspaper editor who opposed the expulsion were driven out of town. That church today is the one the socially prominent still attend.

There is a rock in a parking lot in Lakewood commemorating the hanging of Chief Leschi who refused to sign the Medicine Creek Treaty handing over the Indian land to Gov. Stevens and the invading white man. I hope the Indian CASINOs originally underwritten by organized crime rob white citizens for 200 years. "They have the best pasta" as Sherman Alexie once said. Ghost Indian hop pickers told me to add that.

Camp Harmony...it was a pig sty at the Fairgrounds where the Japanese were herded after Pearl Harbor. My ex-grandmother-in-law who spoke German was the only white woman who visited the fence -- every day because her Japanese neighbor let her live in a garage shed after her OKIE family came penniless to town. She changed her name and never spoke German again. HISTORY. BRUTAL. BUT NOT EVER FORGOTTEN...but my post on this is important and it matters a lot that I could articulate it. I had to regurgitate all that testimony to get my thoughts out. That is a shitty ass process that I must go through to create anything...like many artists go through.

I feel I monopolized your time and thoughts for days with my transcript. I am not sure we will win impeachment. I have only my SHRIEK of anger and frustration with white america who lost their past and history including some of their own relatives' immigrant stories...I know I preach to the choir mostly, but it matters sometimes...a painted rock I found after my mom died was under a Chinese lion's foot at the Chinese Reconciliation Park where they burned down the Chinese shacks, where they decided to build a park 100 years later. The rock I found -- a butterfly -- it said BELIEVE. The circle of life... art triggered it again...good.

Faulkner the writer was once asked if he'd kill his mother for art when accused of betraying the South; he said "The Grecian urn is worth any old lady." It sucked and he could have softened the way he said it to leave out that poor old lady but that was the South he meant. "A Rose for Emily" where an old shriveled corrupt ex-Southern belle slept for 50 years with a corpse. She was the South. She was the North too. The corpse is still there in her bed after all these years. I did not know that. Faulkner wrote the story in the 30s. The corpse is still there unmolested since Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. They simply closed the door and another 100 years went by... I will fight no more today...

And yes the corpse is still there. Earlier today you had me thinking that not so long ago, Dick Cheney wanted them to keep Mandela in prison and now his spawn looks like the sane one. Beware of all wolves...
