Punish Trump or risk a repeat, warn Democrats

Democrats closed their case against former President Trump Thursday by pleading with their Republican colleagues to convict him or risk more political violence in the future.

Lead impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) argued that "any president could provoke insurrectionary violence again" if Trump were to be acquitted. His colleague Rep. Joe Neguse (D-Colo.) asked, "who's to say it won't happen again?" if firm action is not taken now.

The Democratic argument is, in essence, that the Senate needs to redraw the norms of American political life that Trump so repeatedly transgressed.

There is, however, little chance of Trump becoming the first president in history to be convicted, given that the overwhelming majority of GOP senators are (spineless worms) expected to vote to acquit.

but I don't think the rubes will be so quick to pony up 30 or 40 bucks to watch give the same speech over and over. I think (hope) donny fades away. Remember, Palin was supposed to run away with the next election, she went out with less than a whimper.

He's not going anywhere.

Rallies to restart in March, he'll announce a Super PAC and seek revenge in the '22 election... he may or may not run in '24.

If he WANTS the nomination, it's his.

If the country's not better off in 2024... he could win.

if he runs and Biden doesn't run again, he (trump) probably will win. I'm really hoping the rubes will tire of his repeating speech.

Biden needs to run a good government.

Peoples lives need to visibly improve.

And for God's sake... start taxing the RICH.

Let's start with a 5% one time wealth tax, 1% annual wealth tax and a fee placed on EVERY stock market transaction.

OH and tax Capital Gains as regular income.

Trump OWNS the GOP.

90%+ approval.

DEMS won in 2020 because of MASSIVE turnout. Restrict voting rights or pour cold water on the voting population and a Repub will win again.

He will do rallies and start whipping up the mob ahead of time.

He now knows no one will touch him.

What that something is can anything, money, arms, securities. The question becomes who takes what, with the deal being told as said. The bad guys are going to be the ones taking the blame, and this is the payoff.

Trump is at the top, but Mike Pence was not at the top at the time. In fact Pence was at the bottom. I really want to know more about that Trump Hotel meeting. Who was there, what they talked about, what they wanted to accomplish. This all seems very sketchy.

Your first reply was on how its corrupt in its entirety and everyone is in on it. I'm agreeing with that and adding that the winning side gets to home with the filthy lucre AND the blame. The losing side gets the party and the military. Next step. Their party splits with the money side going into exile. The insurrection side gets the military. The democrats get the people. The treasury is the empty.
