One of the most jarring things I learned from the House Managers footage is how long the physical combat between these assailants and the Capitol police went on for. This was hours of steady, physical hand-to-hand combat with numerous injuries and several fatalities.

(8,348 posts)First fighting to keep them out of the building, then fighting them in the building then fighting to remove them from the building then sweeping the building to make sure none in the unscreened people remained before bringing the congress back to finish the vote count then securing the building while the count went on until almost 4 am. Not only was the hand to hand combat with chemical munitions exhausting, the post adrenaline rush was exhausting, the 17 hour day was exhausting, trying to process what the hell had just happened was EXHaUSTING being back first thing next day to document the events was exhausting being second guessed and ridiculed by those who were not there was exhausting

(6,390 posts)For those who haven't seen it, the battle scenes are hand to hand. They're a gory mess so I don't recommend the show if you're squeamish.
Watching it, I kinda through the combat scenes were a little over the top. Having seen the body cam and close up views from 1/6...I now think the directors did an amazing job capture what real hand to hand would be like.
Amazing that Republican Senators can watch this and say "yeah - I'm good with that". And it's going to be crazier to watch the defense try to equate smashing windows at a CVS with storming the Capitol. Not a fan of smashing windows mind you but they feel like a different order of magnitude.
