Since I've perused DU as a main source & reference for news from almost the beginning . . . I thought I'd say hi to you all.

I really appreciate the wide array of opinions, news referrals and yes some of the snark.

You've helped me maintain sanity & perspective since bush junior was installed.

I have been a member since 2005 and this is also my go-to site to see the news. Many are quick to refute false info. give background on stories and find the gems in the news way ahead of any other sites. I'm always amazed at the information that folks dig up and share. I wish I had the time and skills to add my thoughts, and that's probably why I don't post too much. Everyone else has already said it, and said it better. Every once in while I think I can add something new to the conversation, like now, but most of the time I enjoy reading other people's thoughts.

My only advice is not this to use DU as your main source of info. Lots of information here, but lots of opinion and speculation (which I enjoy).

That’s not meant to be negative.

It’s just that that is not healthy for your brain to rely chiefly on one source. Read widely and keep your eyes always open. And then check in here to see what people are thinking.

Ya'll would call me a longtime lurker too, as I seldom make posts (a bit over a hundred in 18+ years). As magicksmom says, "I really appreciate the wide array of opinions, news referrals..." Yeah, maybe the snark too.

I visit DU almost daily and find it a great source of news and links that pique my interest.

Thank you everyone for making DU such a great resource!

And thanks to that someone who gave me a heart. Just found out this morning when it suddenly stopped working that our furnace needs a $1200 repair, so money is kinda tight right now. Fortunately the wood stove can partlly heat our home, so we won't become ice cubes, but it certainly is sweater-not-optional in parts of the house.

It's not optional in the northern states. Have a wood burner too, but not enough to keep pipes from freezing if boiler dies. Good luck

I'm also a long-time lurker. I, too, have been here since the beginning and DU has helped me make sense of the crazy that made up the shrub years and later the mango madness. I seldom contribute because I don't like to presume, being a Canadian. When I first followed DU, I was a new Canadian. Now, I've lived here longer than the other two countries I've lived in, and almost at retirement, here is where I'll be staying.

I'm here every day. DU is my first port of call when I get my day started. I don't know what I'd do without you all.

This is a completely excellent site. Finest political site on the Web, by a long shot. People are very well-informed - VERY - and are sticklers for accuracy and truth. It's easily the most "user-curated" site of its type I've ever seen.

The other thing about the denizens of DU: friendly, patient and welcoming, to a fault. When you're told they are glad to have you here, they mean it.
