I am thoroughly enjoying Brian Williams' snark on his 11th Hour show

Last night he mentioned Ron Johnson's comments about it not being an armed insurrection were "translated from Russian" and Mitch McConnell's WSJ opinion piece was "written by gaslight." In these dark times, we need all the levity we can find!

I think his snark is a nice transition into this new era, where we expect our reporters to emotionally connect with the news.

Whether it's come for the news and stay for the snark or come for the snark and stay for the news, Brian Williams is turning into a gem.

He occassionally makes funny remarks about their video from home appearances, always comical.

It's a nice counter to all of the irrational posturing on the other side.

Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men. It bears repeating over and over, but I wish he'd given credit to McCarthy. Btw, CM's title comes from W.B. Yeats. Another Yeats poem, The Second Coming, also bears some serious thought:

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Those last two lines are just too painfully apt. But we had a respite from that condition with Raskin and his House Managers. There's hope if the best of us stand up and speak the truth.

“It's a mess, aint it Sheriff?

If it aint it'll do till a mess gets here.”
― Cormac McCarthy, No Country for Old Men

It's funny how dialog like that just rolls by in the story. You can apply that to a lot of things these days.

Brian Williams lied about a near-death experience covering the war in Iraq, so a little plagiarism can't hurt, can it?

To make the references he does shows a vast and eclectic intellect that is wasted on those who do not appreciate his clever genius.
