Hey everyone,
I haven't posted here in a long time. I've been following politics, but Trump's administration made me not want to focus on it anymore than I had to. Regardless, I was pretty skeptical of Biden even after his nomination. I voted for him, and missed work to make sure my friends could vote as well, but I was only doing it to get rid of Trump.
However I've got to say I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the Biden administration so far. I think his COVID plan is a definite step in the right direction and the extension of UI benefits, assuming they pass, will help a lot of people. Also, I love that he seems to be trying to avoid Obama's biggest mistake of assuming the Republicans can be reasoned with. It's nice to see the dems fighting.
So to everyone who worked hard for Biden's nomination, I just wanted to say good job. Biden's looking to be a lot better of a president than I expected and crow has never tasted so good.

(2,126 posts)how well Biden is doing. He's not taking any shit from the Republicans and is plowing ahead with plans to help the country through multiple crises.

My candidate was Pete Buttigieg and Biden hadn't even made my list until Pete threw his support to Joe. Like you, I really wanted to get rid of tRump, and Joe looked like the candidate that could. Besides, he'd promised Pete a role in his administration, and he kept that promise.
He has really done a superlative job. I'm really pleased with Biden. And the fact that Pete is now the head of DOT is just the icing on the cake. This will give him the opportunity to shed the "inexperienced" label and to continue to make a national name for himself.

(14,313 posts)I think Biden knows he has to work hard for the people, to win over all factions, including skeptics and doubters. That's what we need in a president.

(54,388 posts)My preference was Jay Inslee, but my prediction was always Biden, even in December of 2019. A Republican strategist in the States asked me for my opinion around then. Why a seasoned Republican strategist would possibly care about MY opinion, I have yet to figure out, but she did. When I told her I thought Biden would win the nomination and the presidency, she was a little shocked, and asked me why I thought so when he was polling so low.
I said I thought so because except for his age as a drawback, he had more experience than anyone, knew everyone, and brought the smallest moving target for Trump to shoot at. The fact that the best Trump could come up with was Sleepy Joe was proof of how elusive a target Biden was. Also, Biden, once known as the poorest Senator, was hard to pin down for personal excesses, was personally very accessible, and, knowing all the ropes and all the landmines from past experience, would hit the ground running faster than any if the others. I said other frontrunners would burn out and leave Biden standing, and that is exactly what happened.
The yearly gathering where I usually see her was canceled this past year, so I never got to tell her, I told you so, but I told her so.
