No "concern" here. Just sayin'. The media only likes Joe because he tends to make gaffes. And he's been around for a gazillion years. He's old news, Ryan is one of those new "Young Guns" and the media will want to help keep the horse race alive. There is still a month's worth of ad space to fill, after all.

Stump Joe is the gaffe prone, affable fellow who's trying to go for the home town appeal.
Debate Joe, on the other hand, is a mother-fukkin Great White Shark and all of his debate opponents are little more than chum.
Joe's going to drink Ryan's milkshake, baby.
You heard it from me.

(32,097 posts)They're his accurate words taken out of context and spun into piles of BS by the whore media. And, the best thing about Debate Joe is that he'll still look like that affable fellow even as he slurps down the last few drops of that milkshake.

(13,218 posts)I think Biden will wallop Ryan worse than 1st Gore versus Bush (in which the media tried, "Bush did OK" and everybody scoffed). Not only is Biden a great debater, he happens to have the facts on his side.

(102,419 posts)for that, I think... but still, it is hard to counter the "youthful exhuberance" that many tend to forgive with an overly aggressive younger opponent. I think Biden's natural jovial nature will help him counter without looking like an (older, more experienced) bully, as can be a risk in these kinds of situations.

(31,464 posts)I think he'll knock it out of the park. If you're re-read my post, you'll see I was speaking of what THE MEDIA will do, not Joe. I think Joe will be awesome. I'm just saying that we should be prepared for tomorrow. Unless Paul Ryan bludgeons a Girl Scout to death with a sack of kittens, the pundits are going to want to give it to Ryan, for any number of bs reasons...such as, he did great for his first time sparring with the old master, he was energetic, he is handsome and smoov, blah blah blah. It's just the way media works. They're going to want this to be exciting, a tight race right up until the end. I repeat, there is still a lot of air time to sell.

(45,319 posts)to love Joe. He 'gaffed' in supporting marriage equality, but he also forced the hand of an incredibly naive and perhaps bigoted President who really thought it was a good idea to enter this election without strong support show for his GLBT base of voters. Can you imagine what this cycle would be like if Mitt and Barack held the same views on equality? What a catastrophe it would have been. Joe's 'gaffe' saved the President's standing with a very important voter base. Some gaffe.

(53,521 posts)Gore and Kerry obviously won those debates!
I still can't believe how obsessed the MSM was over Gore's now infamous sigh.
