The Biden Administration needs to attach a condition to aid...

...for the disaster going on down there. The condition is they reconnect to the national grid by July 4. If they were on the grid now they wouldn’t be as bad off as they are now.

It goes back deep in the 20th century. It was keep a separate grid to avoid federal regulations that came in around 1935. When we had a functioning public utilities commission and railroad commission with teeth things were mostly OK. But the years of anti regulation rePublican rule had pulled all the teeth from both commissions. An example of that is the flaring and dumping of natural gas in oil fields. The railroad commission had rules that flaring could only be done for 30 days iirc. After that the well had to be connected to a pipeline or the well capped. Evidently that is no longer true. The Texas PUC is just a joke. I suspect the commissioners get a fat check for doing nothing.
