Had the wonderful opportunity to work with a MAGAt on Monday. He was a customer, and you don't let politics affect customer relationships...
It began innocently enough. He said something about Tik-Tok. Not keeping up with social media, I asked if it was related to QAnon. A co-worker said that she had been involved with QAnon, but let go after a while (Trying not to judge... I said "hmmmm".) So HE decides that he must be in safe conservative space. And talks about how awful it is that some woman at Disney got let go, and how of course there was some fraud in the election - I mean heck, there's always fraud in elections - and that you can get beaten up for wearing a MAGA hat... and liberalism had taken over.
Lots of "hmm"s. A few "it's just freedom of speech", and "beaten up - that's terrible." (Thinking to myself that I have often wanted to beat up MAGAts, but have restrained myself.)
I was very, very proud of myself. I still have a job.

(22,129 posts)maggots/MAGAt have, zero. And ended up killing people. No rest, no peace until every one of these thugs are caught, charged, and if convicted, fined/sentenced or both. Throw the book at them. They tried to overthrow our votes.

(9,998 posts)He asked me whether I was happy that Drumpf was acquitted.
I just told him that I was too busy to really pay attention to politics right now, and left it at that.
The guy is not the brightest, and he's not even very wealthy. He already declared bankruptcy back during the financial crisis when he was under water on his mortgages.

(9,998 posts)I'm thinking, is he buying this? I mean, busy or not, who doesn't have an opinion about the Impeachment?
But like I said, he's not too bright, so he probably didn't realize I was just avoiding the subject.
I'm not sure why he thinks I'd be pro-Drumpf. Perhaps since I'm a CPA Tax Preparer, and my job is to keep my client's taxes low. That doesn't mean I don't think the whole lower taxes, trickle down theories are all Bullshit. I've always believed in a progressive tax structure.
And like I said, he is not in a high bracket to begin with, to the contrary. So whenever I hear someone like that proclaiming how great conservatives are since they believe in lower tax rates for the wealthy, I wonder why. It's not like a millionaire paying a higher rate is going to impact him at all.

(6,148 posts)that you didn't need to go down. I think you dodged beautifully.
Talking about politics with customers opens up so many cans of worms. You could lose business, your reputation, all for what? Maybe some momentary satisfaction. It's really just a distraction. By NOT talking about it, work goes faster and s/he can be GONE.
As it was, I need this guy to help run a test, and the last thing I needed was to get on his bad side.
