Now I understand why Republicans have so much confidence in their small government model. I thought it was just because they are selfish beings that wanted to reduce their own personal share of the tax burden that comes from responsibly being good stewards. I figured that they were able to pull it off easily, because they knew how to redirect public money and resources to their own kind, creating a network of support.

But now I see something I had never seen before. They don't feel committed to improving the public safety nets for their own constituents because they can always escape the consequences of their own bad or incompetent decisions.
