As late as 1996, Bob Dole denied the terrible toll tobacco took on public health .

He also took $477,000 in campaign contributions from the industry throughout his career.

3. Well, he was a WWII vet and served very admirably, so I'm going to wish him an easy passing.

Limbaugh, on the other hand, had very little to mitigate his behavior over decades (at least publicly).

That said, I will certainly acknowledge that with Dole.

He was a disabled WWII vet and served honorably. So what if he was a Republican? He was one of the last halfway decent ones. I wish him Godspeed.
