We are very proud to be supporting green energy. We may never break even, and don't care. OPPD is a public owned utility BTW.

Why OPPD created Community Solar.
With our commitment to provide you with affordable, reliable and environmentally sensitive energy services, a study team was formed to research the possibility of creating a community solar program. Many options were looked at, including those suggested by our customers. Based on the findings, OPPD concluded that moving forward in support of a solar program was widely popular with both our residential and business customers. The solar farm will be located east of Fort Calhoun and is expected to come online in the fall of 2019. This solar farm will be able to produce 5 MW of solar energy and the generation will be divided into shares to be portioned out to the customers who wish to support clean renewable energy. By participating in the program, youre contributing to a portion of the solar energy generated at the facility.

We got a nice check each year, based on the total output of the system. It was a great way to get solar projects onto the local grid.
We tried to buy shares of the first one here but that sold out in just a few hours.
