6 Capitol Police officers suspended, 29 others being investigated for alleged roles in riot

(CNN)Six US Capitol Police officers have been suspended with pay, and 29 others have been placed under investigation, for their actions in the January 6 riot, a department spokesman said Thursday.

"Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman has directed that any member of her department whose behavior is not in keeping with the Department's Rules of Conduct will face appropriate discipline," department spokesman John Stolnis told CNN.

CNN reported in January that the USCP had placed at least 10 officers under investigation, and two others had been suspended.

One of the suspended officers took a selfie with someone who was part of the mob that overtook the Capitol, according to Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat from Ohio. Another wore a "Make America Great Again" hat and started directing people around the building, Ryan said.

For their actions is very different than alleged roles

It is clear that bad decisions were made in some instances, but that does not mean they had a role in the insurrection ( this was not a riot, it was an armed insurrection ) the Acting Chief and the majority of the command staff are under investigation and the Uscp bargaining unit has voted no confidence in them.

Is taking a selfie playing a role in the insurrection or doing a shitty job in securing the already breached building. There is a difference. Neither is a good look, nor is it professional, but is it a role in the armed insurrection......

5. The real dirty little secret...

... Is that I’m pretty sure major police departments in places like Detroit, Milwaukee, New York City, and so on are trying to massage the fact that they had law enforcement officers down there who probably directly participated in the violence and insurrection.

That’s a story I’m pretty sure they don’t want told — because it would give ultimate lie to the story of “Blue Lives Matter“ or that whole “thin blue line” shtick. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to come to find out that they’ve asked those officers to simply resign and walk away from their forces as opposed to being exposed as active members who participated.
