Oh come on! (Savannah Guthrie interviews the Mayor of Austin on the Toady Show)

After a useful back-and-forth about conditions in Texas and what the Mayor of Austin has been dealing with for the past week, Savannah Guthrie brought up Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who recently tweeting something insulting about the Mayor. The Mayor deftly swatted away the question, saying that he was focused on helping the people of Austin and didn't really have the time or the inclination to get into it with Sen. Cruz.

Guthrie smirked and said (paraphrasing), So you don't want to respond to Cruz, or comment on his recent activities? The Mayor repeated his earlier answer, declining Guthrie's invitation to give her a juicy and unproductive sound bite that would almost certainly come back to be thrown in the Mayor's face by defenders of Cruz.

The segment ended, and my first thought was, "How much do you miss President Trump, Savannah?" You have nothing better to do than try to gin up a fake feud between the Mayor of Austin and Ted Cruz?

But if the Mayor had risen to Guthrie's bait, you can bet that Fox and the Republicans would be all about how horrible it was that the Mayor said something mean about poor Sen. Ted, and why was he going out of his way to say that when the people of Austin were suffering, and why doesn't he do his job instead of lashing out at others. That avenue of distraction is closed off, and there are certainly any number of folks who can keep Cruz's cowardice in the news.

I was disturbed yesterday when I heard her inciting Austin mayor to a fight. Of course this is a distraction so that the people's focus is hopefully shifted. It is extremely sad what the media (Ms. Gutherie and others like her) call journalism. I agree this is exactly what she wanted to do and he didn't bite. If more politicians would follow and not waiver it could have an impact. Separation of the people... Shame on you Savannah Gutherie and I wish you would get called out. Awful, hateful and disgusting! Hate hate hate. Stop the bullying!

Mad she had to talk to a Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. She seemed so angry. Obviously an inner repuke inside.
