We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals. ...Ted Cruz left a freezing Texas to head to Cancun, Mexico, reportedly leaving behind his dog, Snowflake. Reporter Michael Hardy discovered the small white dog peering from behind the glass front door when he went to Cruz's River Oaks home in Houston, Texas.
But the allegation that he left his dog behind has angered people even further, like one Twitter user who said: ''Never thought I could dislike Ted Cruz more than I already did...until he left his dog #Snowflake home to freeze to death," in a tweet that has been liked 1,600 times.
In response to the news story, someone created a Twitter account with the handle @TedCruzPoodle. Their bio reads: "Hi! I'm Ted Cruz's poodle, Snowflake, living my best life while Texas freezes over and my a-hole dad is in Cancun. #Justice4Snowflake #TedFled"
Another account with the handle @TheCruzDog emerged and said: "Ted invited himself on the Cancun trip. Everyone was all, 'Uh, sure Ted, whatevs.'" The bio of @TheCruzDog's Twitter page reads: "My captor's code name is: Rafael," referring to Cruz's first name.

(34,402 posts)feeding her? Seriously? How long before her water bowl freezes over?
Look at that trusting little soul waiting for her family.

(115,732 posts)by the security guard isn't good enough; the poor thing was left all alone in an unheated house. I don't think it was cold enough for the water bowl to freeze but it's been close to freezing in Houston - mid 30s - since Wednesday. That's much too cold for a little dog like that.

(9,952 posts)excellent doggie hotel, but he would prefer to stay home and someone come in and take care of him. I do not have anyone to, so he goes to a hotel. (Now. I hardly leave so that happened only once in his life otherwise with me 24/7. But some day I might take a vacation without him). I do not see the same outrage. If I had someone to doggie sit, I would do that. Actually, I have recently seen people that do that. But no, I do not think this is abuse.
I feel as bad when I leave my dog for 9 hours to go to work. Before i lost my job a year ago.

(34,402 posts)underlines what a selfish, despicable excuse for a human being he is. That dog was originally going to be left alone for almost 5 days with no guarantees of when power would be restored. I can feel compassion for humans and animals at the same time.

(9,952 posts)The lowest I have woken to in the house is 58. Mostly it will sit at 60, 61. I get hot easily so most of the day I have heat off and only put on when it gets to low 60's. Because it is cold outside does not make the inside as cold. I was not being cruel freezing a dog out. I felt I was merely being pragmatic. I know a lot of people in my dog loving area would have issues with this and I am totally with them their concern.

(53,410 posts)But the dogs is left without heat. Grrr!
Little dogs also dont have much fat on them so they have much less protection from the cold. Thats one reason little dogs shiver so much. They arent nervous. Theyre cold.

(3,014 posts)Is his undoing??
Not his support of racist policies
Not his participation in an insurrection
Not being a coward and a generally all around horrible person

(3,014 posts)Just when I think he may be a reasonable republican, I remember Seamus. His ordeal was truly horrible.
Little Snowflake would probably survive the temps in the house and was at least getting food and water.
Poor Seamus was scared to death and ended up with diarrhea. Im surprised he didnt have a cardiac event, honestly.
