staff requirements for serving Trump diet coke... 7 steps illustrated with 4 photos

https://www.washingtonian.com/2021/02/19/trump-hotel-employees-tell-all-what-it-was-really-like-serving-right-wing-elite/

Donald Trump needed his Diet Coke opened in front of his eyes and had to hear the pop of the new ketchup bottle being unsealed reveal his hotel staff as they lift the lid on life serving the MAGA elite

Trump's requirements, as outlined by the magazine:

As soon as Trump was seated, the server was to 'discreetly present' a mini bottle of Purell hand sanitizer - even pre-COVID. Trump is a known germaphobe.

Then, the server had to say: 'Good (time of day) Mr. President. Would you like your Diet Coke with or without ice?'

The details on pouring the soda were seven steps long and illustrated with four photos.

The diet coke had to be opened in front of Trump and 'never beforehand.'

The server was to hold a longneck-bottle opener by the lower third of the handle in one hand and the Diet Coke, also by the lower third, in the other.

The drink was to be placed at Trump's right-hand side: 'Repeat until POTUS departs.'

Trump always had the same thing to eat: shrimp cocktail, well-done steak, and fries (plus sometimes apple pie or chocolate cake for dessert).

Popovers - a double serving - had to be served within two minutes and the crustaceans 'immediately.'

The server had to open mini glass bottles of Heinz ketchup in front of Trump, taking care to ensure he could hear the seal make the 'pop' sound.

Additionally, a tray of junk food needed to be available for every Trump visit.

It was to contain: Lay's potato chips (specifically, sour cream and onion), Milky Way, Snickers, Nature Valley Granola Bars, Tic Tacs, gummy bears, Chips Ahoy, Oreos, Nutter Butters, Tootsie Rolls, chocolate-covered raisins, and Pop-Secret.

Germaphobe yes but these “opening in front of me” bits are because he’s worried about being poisoned.

That’s why he does random stops at McDonalds and some KFC’s. Standard health regulations (he likes regulations) and no way anyone could anticipate which one he’ll stop at. He left an aid at a McD’s because the aid made a special order and Trump couldn’t wait any longer.

31. Ketchup as a vegetable

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketchup_as_a_vegetable

The Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1980, signed into law by President Jimmy Carter, reduced the Federal School Lunch and Child Nutrition Programs budget by approximately eight percent. Building upon these reductions, the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1981 (passed as the Gramm-Latta Budget) made further spending cuts to the Federal School Lunch Program decreasing its fiscal year 1982 budget by 25 percent. To administer the requirements made by both Omnibus Reconciliation Acts of 1980 and 1981, the USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) was tasked with proposing ways to implement the regulations while maintaining nutritional requirements for school lunches despite the lower funding. Among the recommendations made by the Food and Nutrition Service's September 3, 1981 Regulations was a proposal to give local school lunch administrators flexibility in accrediting substitute food items that met FNS nutritional requirements and regulations. The report stated an item could not be counted as a bread that was not enriched or whole-grain, "but could credit a condiment such as pickle relish as a vegetable."

While ketchup was not specifically mentioned as a potential substitute, critics demonstrated outrage in Congress and in the media against the Ronald Reagan administration for cutting school lunch budgets and allowing ketchup and other condiments to count as vegetables.
According to New York Times reporter Benjamin Weinraub, "the opposition had a Dickensian field day of outrage and mockery that contrasted school children's shrinking meal subsidies with the Pentagon generals' groaning board of budget increases."

He is so disgusting in every way. I can't believe he has been eating like that his entire life and he still isn't dead yet. I am beginning to believe he really has made some kind of bargain with the devil.

And who treats people like that? It's like Trump and his entourage get off on watching other people grovel before them because they know their livlihoods are at stake and they can get away with it. Republicans are the worst. At least the Trump kids were relatively polite compared to the rest of them, to their credit.

Also, I am just curious as to what Melania has against garnishes? A bit of parsley and chives? What could be so offensive about that? Was she forced to graze in a meadow as a child? It's so bizarre. They are such freaks.

I use it as a bit of a tell when getting friendly with new people. I remember going out to happy hour with a group from work once and one of the guys came in late with his wife - and proceeded to be a demanding prick to the waitress. He got crossed off my "get to know better" list immediately.

When people treat service people like dirt, I immediately want nothing to do with them anymore. It turns my stomach and I won't put up with it.

Or if they treat anyone who can't "advance" them as if they were "less than", it tells me who they are. It's strange, but I find that as I cut people like that out of my life, I encounter such types less and less. I just want nothing to do with people like that. And I no longer care what they can do for me. It's not worth it. I used to be afraid to offend them. Not anymore.

FIL always complained to the waitress - every single time - about something. He also made a game out of stringing out requests so she would have to go back and forth several times. Then he'd grin at us and say that she needed to earn her.tip.

That is yet another outrageous lie fabricated only to impugn me. Does the media ever get tired of lying?? You must really be desperate for a story, might be more interesting saying they have good food—please add this.”
