Texas wasn't doing too great at Covid prevention before the storm.
Now we have people without power, water, or food.
I am seeing them line up at working spigots for water, congregate at distribution sites for necessities.
Any bets on whether warming centers are able to enforce any kind of masking/social distancing requirements?
We are not seeing the end of the problem.
We are barely seeing the beginning.

(15,124 posts)There may also be some folks who died in their homes because they froze or had no water.
Texas deserves better.

(16,426 posts)I'm sure you're right.
We won't know the extent of the death toll for a while yet, and it's probably going to be even worse than we think. ☹

(3,023 posts)live without clean and safe water. I managed the facilities for a 300 bed hospital and when we ran 24/7 under emergency conditions, we could go through 30,000 gallons of water a day. And you can't just bring in tanker trucks and hook them up for water supply. And I wonder how the sewage system is doing?

(3,023 posts)foreign particles are present. If you are cleaning off blood, other bodily fluids or solids, alcohol based sanitizers are not considered acceptable/adequate. It's a s**t show...pun intended.
Their smart move would be to use trash bags in the toilets instead of scooping out. That is beyond insane not to mention unsanitary.

As long as it doesn't touch skin or eyes or lungs, it's probably ok. Hopefully it was......

(14,155 posts)... don't forget masks, distance in public, and wash/disinfect hands to control the spread of the virus.
Their lives are turned so upside down it is going to be easy to forget or take short cuts.
If not reminded Covid will take off like a rocket again in Texas.
