Depending on how wide spread these enormous bills are, Abbott and the GOP will be facing a lot of angry Texans.
The way I se it they can do three things.
1. Stay true to their laissez faire, capitalist ideology and do nothing, let the market place handle it. Of course they don't really believe in that shit and probably can't tell everyone to suck it up.
2. Legislate the lowering of the bills and tell the power companies they can't have the money. Yeah sure, regulate the market. Ha!
3. Set up a fund and use State money to pay for anything over a certain dollar amount. Sounds more like it, public dollars to private corporations, that is the GOP way.

And no consequences or exorbitant bills for their really bad decisions about everything from representation to planning for emergency situations like pandemics, storms, infrastructure - building codes, banking. In everything, they're immune when bad things happen. Perhaps because the blood of Jesus is in their veins? (blasphemy, I know) because I've never been there and only ever met a couple of Texans.
Will this latest catastrophe make the color of the state turn Blue?

(25,545 posts)The money is in energy markets has not been passed to consumers yet.
The exception is Griddlie..or whatever that is. But Griddle is a free market, do it yourself, and only has about 26,000 subscribers/members or whatever they call themselves
The federal govt won't bail out consumers, but the utility companies which purchased the overpriced energy on the free market.
