(3,974 posts)Hanks lives in California, so doubt that he would fly cross country during a pandemic to do a cameo of character hes never played before. Its not like Alec Baldwin who lives in NYC.
Plus Aidy Bryant played Cruz last week and got good reviews.

(430 posts)Some actors are a better fit for some roles. Many actors can play a role well. What SatNiteLive did to miss the ball was not to have Rosie O'Donnell play trumple-thin-skin. They had Leslie Jones quickly pose as trumple-thin-skin, silently. Either could play Cruz. But the essence of Cruz is oily smarminess. He thinks he is the brightest bulb in the chandelier, and he is not. Who could be that self unaware, hypocritical, dishonest, and smarmy. The Germans have a word for someone like him, "Backpfeifengesicht", a face that calls out to be slapped.
