Oddly enough, not all of us are watching TV all day.

And yeah, flights to Hawaii have been happening in recent months.

This incident is particularly dramatic, but most people have no idea how often an emergency landing of some kind is made.

United Airlines flight suffers engine failure, sending debris falling on neighborhoods outside Denver

(CNN)A United Airlines flight was forced to return to Denver International Airport Saturday after it suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff, sending aircraft debris raining down on soccer fields, homes and yards in a Denver suburb.

United Flight 328 returned to the airport around 1:30 p.m. after suffering an engine issue, an airport spokesperson told CNN. The flight had been bound for Honolulu.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed in a statement that a Boeing 777-200 safely returned to the Denver International Airport after "experiencing a right-engine failure shortly after takeoff."

"Update February 18 at 5:30 p.m. (HST): Due to ongoing storm events across the nation, Hawaii’s Safe Travels Program will temporarily be accepting valid test results within a timeframe of 96 hours (or four days) instead of 72 hours (three days) from February 18 to February 21. This applies only to travelers arriving from the U.S. mainland during this four-day period. The protocols will return to normal on Monday, February 22.?

You have to get a negative test within 72 hours of departure and have to do another test if you want to travel between islands. Hawaii also has been strictly enforcing mask policies, according to media reports.

Hawaii’s open for business and has been for a while now. I’m going in October.

...after arrival, at least the view from your hotel is beautiful.

I can recommend The Ilima, where I stayed for my 50th high school reunion. Our room had a kitchenette. Just check to make sure you are several floors up (I think 7) so you have a view of the mountains and not the backside of another hotel.

Me, I’m not flying anywhere just now.
