Why not for administering vaccines to reach neighborhoods that have few or no clinics and pharmacies?

(13,615 posts)I'm recently retired from working mobile blood drives. Many of the regular blood drives have been shut down because of COVID. I know the center I worked for has staff on short hours and mobile vehicles and equipment not being used.
I'm not sure if regular phlebotomists are allowed to give vaccine injections but they could certainly handle it. Giving shots is a joke compared to drawing units of blood. The centers these days don't have many nurses working for them.

(115,806 posts)Once there's enough of it available, using something like Bloodmobiles would be a great way to get it to rural areas where needed.

(96 posts)every School and Community Center needs to be used as mass Vaccination Centers. We did it in the period after WW2,we can do it again. We Vaccinated the whole of the Nation with in weeks. And same as the Census, people were hired to go door to door making sure everyone got their vaccinations. And yes even in the rural areas.
