He is one of those mediocre people with a wealthy father-in-law who set him up in business and politics. If he hadn't married up he would be stuck in middle management somewhere making competent employees miserable.

The Russians pay their assets well!

Johnson and the seven other Republicans went to Russia, because Trump trusted them...along with John Huntsman who was the ambassador at the time. I believe that all were offered money for total support of Trump...up to and including the overthrow of the government.

These were the 8 who went to Russia
Richard Shelby (R-AL), John Kennedy (R-LA), John Hoeven (R-ND), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Thune (R-SD), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX)

Daines originally objected to the Electoral College certification, but changed his mind after the MAGAt attack on the Capitol

These two continued on object to the Electoral College certification
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI)
Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA)
