I didn't listen or watch DeJoy today... but I just got a phone call from the hatchery I order from every year (NEVER a problem before) they can't delivery until at least the end of April
I just checked and found out that a Priority package (Valentine stuff) I mailed 2 weeks ago is still not delivered...
I am beyond livid... I always in the past trusted and used USPS extensively... what the hell is happening in this Country
I am so disappointed

(14,643 posts)MF45 and DeJoy really fucked things up. It's going to take some time to straighten everything out. We got a Christmas card that was mailed before Christmas just a few weeks ago.
This is what they wanted. Now they can say, "See? The USPS doesn't work!"

(18,869 posts)USPS is no longer reliable.
You can't send living things. If they get stuck somewhere they die.
I have friends trying to send items they sell on EBAY. It is costing a fortune to ship packages.
It's a massive problem.

(10,252 posts)So they can privatize it, sell it off to UPS, FedX, or some other private corporate entity. They'll lie and say that gov can't do anything right. Free enterprise would do a better job. But they won't tell you how they will jack up the costs to consomers.

(22,756 posts)a wonderful public service... there is so much good that has come from the USPS... I am really sad and hope that we can bring it back

(22,117 posts)I've also ordered from them for years. If it takes chicks more than two days in transit, they die.
Is your hatchery saying the delay is because of the PO?

(22,756 posts)I have ordered from Murray McMurray for 40 years... this is the first time there has ever been a problem

(21,771 posts)First time in forty years that I have been dunned for a late payment.
I talked to a couple of clerks at the local Post Office.
They tell me they went from twelve full time clerks at the beginning of 2020 to four clerks at the end of 2020. The current clerks are working seven days a week, 72 hours per week. Yes, they are getting paid tons of overtime pay but they are exhausted and they can't keep up.
In addition, full time carriers have been transferred out and replaced with "loaners" from smaller area offices. These loaners have never delivered in this town and some have gotten lost on their routes. They are working overtime every day, as well.
Hate to see this happening. The Postal Service is being intentionally destroyed by the people hired to run it.
It's like a hedge fund bought the outfit and are dismantling it piece by piece.

(90,778 posts)Some buy their chicks local but many buy/sell/ship through the mail and have lost shipments (dead on arrival from delays) and are experiencing slow shipments. Some have stopped selling.
We've been looking into keeping some chickens and have gotten to hear the stories.
Still, in this area, they'd vote for Trump again in an instant.

(90,778 posts)Pre-pandemic, I coo'ed over them too.
Lots of people 'round here raise exotic (ornamental) chickens/roosters. Some for eggs, meat.
I live in the back of beyond rural.

I watched as he went by and waved.

(14,795 posts)If you did, call whoever you ordered them from and have the carrier changed to anything except usps.
It sucks, because that is dejoys plan, but it's better than getting 3 pounds of dead bees.
The usps has been delivering packaged bees for 75 years without any major problems, but has warned that live shipments won't be prioritized.
Yes, bees by mail is a thing.

(22,756 posts)they are trucked up from SC and I drive down to NY to pick them up... so glad I don't have to depend on the mail for them
and, bees do come a little later

(30,540 posts)but I never would get them so I dropped the subscriptions. I got sick of laying out good money for something I never ever get. I don't know where my magazines ended up, in someone else's mail, in the trash or sitting in a bin at the PO (???) all I know is they never made to my mail box!
