Republicans in Washington are hugely out of touch with the American people.

A case in point is the number of Americans that agree with the way Joe Biden is handling the Covid crisis. The latest poll shows that 68% of the American people agree with the job he is doing.

But, in Washington, one is hard-pressed to find 4% of Republicans that agree with his handling of the Covid crisis. It would only take two Republican Senators to equal 4% of the Senate, but they are no where to be found? They are out of touch with the American people.

President Biden and VP Harris seem to understand this very well. They are leaving Washington at every opportunity to talk with the American people, including Republicans. Washington is simply not reflective of America at this time.

never listened to the American people, they listen to their own donors and their own selfish needs. I hope the GOP keeps swirling in their toilet bowl.

Democrats seem to be catching on that the programs and proposals they have are quite popular. I'd like to see them proceed a little more confidently, and slip the Republicans a little grief for being out of step with the American people, but this is a wave that can build slowly for now.

If people get some real, consistent, coherent leadership and help (at long last) for the pandemic problems, they aren't going to care one whit if the legislation passed with bipartisan support or was just rammed through by the Democrats. Democrats made a huge blunder in 2010 by not announcing loudly and often that the Affordable Care Act was a 100% Democratic production. Instead, they let the Republican gnats and fleas nibble around the edges and try to blow big holes in the legislation without defending their big fucking deal (as then-VP Biden called it). I'm hopeful that the Biden administration won't repeat that mistake.
