BBC airs interview with Sen. Cory Booker imposter
It was a British Broadcasting Catastrophe.
The BBC ran a 6-minute radio interview on Friday with an imposter pretending to be Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), the Westminster-based public service broadcaster admitted.
The interview, which aired live during the London-based network’s flagship Newshour program on Friday night local time, was apparently the product of a “deliberate hoax,” the BBC said in a statement correcting the error.
In the statement, the BBC said it had apologized to the 51-year-old lawmaker and that it is “looking into what went wrong to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
