The iconic singer shared a photo and video with the caption, 'Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine' — a reference to the fact Parton herself donated $1M to Vanderbilt University in 2020 to support its COVID-19 research. Parton says she got involved after asking her longtime friend and Vanderbilt researcher Dr. Naji Abumrad how she could help in the fight against COVID-19. Dr. Abumrad, who worked on the research at Vanderbilt, said Parton's contribution was vital to the speed of the vaccine release, telling the Washington Post: 'Without a doubt in my mind, her funding made the research toward the vaccine go 10 times faster than it would be without it.'
