Republicans are telling me they plan to force Senate clerks to read the full $1.9 trillion relief bill aloud. Typically that process is dispensed with, but any single member can object and force a full reading of the bill.

That alone could take 10 hours — even before votes begin

Every additional hour they take is an hour of additional time that people need to wait to get help. But this is all a game to them.

It's even slopped over into the Democratic caucus, where Rep. Kurt Schraeder of Oregon, ostensibly a Democrat, voted against the House bill because there's too much in the bill that isn't dedicated to Covid relief.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has told colleagues he will ask for a reading of COVID-relief substitute on Senate floor.

Whip John Thune estimates that will add 10 hours to COVID-relief floor time, will come on top of 20 hours of scheduled debate time.

It takes a 2/3 majority of the Senate. Where would that come from, do you suppose.

Proposing things that will not happen is not helpful.
