North Dakota House expels a Republican member.

-snip-
During floor debate, Rep. Shannon Roers Jones, R-Fargo, said Simons "has been counseled on his behavior multiple times," and "we have a responsibility to protect these women from the inappropriate conduct that we know is occurring."

Rep. Dennis Johnson, R-Devils Lake, said he was "really bothered" by Simons' behavior that he had witnessed and was described by Pyle.

"I'm an old sailor and it bothered me, what I heard," Johnson said.

GOP expelled someone, I thought for sure that they got caught on tape being nice to a minority or something. Shocking that Republicans would try to protect women, I mean, why start now?

Multiple representatives, nearly all Republicans, directly heard and observed his behavior. House Republicans also had a 14-page file documenting numerous incidents that was the basis for initially calling for his resignation and calling the vote when he refused.

As the article notes, they considered impeachment as an alternative, but it sounds like it wasn't really necessary. His claims about hearsay are either intentionally false or he doesn't know what the word means.

He went too far and sexually harassed legislators.

Otherwise, it would have been no big deal to them.
