Politico: “Republicans in Congress attacking President Joe Biden’s plan to pour hundreds of billions of dollars in pandemic relief aid into local governments are facing resistance — from GOP-run states and cities.”

“Republican mayors in Texas, Arizona, Florida and Oklahoma are among those backing Biden’s state and local government funding plan as part of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid bill that’s before the Senate, defying GOP lawmakers in Washington, who are broadly resisting the spending.”

We are going to get significant inflation because the markets and deficit can’t tolerate interest rate hikes. If you have fixed rate debt now and are invested in equities or real estate inflation isn’t totally bad, you have decent hedges in place.

a collection of semi-autonomous states into a wealthy nation with delineated nationwide standards, instead of wealthy states alongside poor "third world" ones and within states wealthy cities and counties surrounded by underdeveloped, impoverished areas. Rural electrification and voting rights.

Federal money, of course, always comes with federal requirements, so maybe agreeing to those is the "allies" part since right now the Democrats mostly set the requirements.
