I don't normally file but I did file 2020.
Still nothing.

(31,907 posts)But she filed 2019 in January.
Then again - I think if one is on Social Security - it should have been automatic.

(21,617 posts)Did not file in 2020. No $600 check. Apparently, Social Security is not automatic.

(31,907 posts)You can go back and file 2020 to get the $600. I'm out of scope for this - but I seriously think EVERY single senior needs it.
The cost of food went up. Some are filling in gaps for grandkids. Even getting something delivered like otc meds from the drugstore (so they can stay home) has a fee associated.
She's outside of Rochester btw.

(21,617 posts)Unless their income is above the cutoff, same as for working people. AARP website says that seniors on Social Security as their primary or only income are eligible. So somebody with SS and a pension, IRA, etc. should be eligible as long as they don't exceed the allowed income.
I know that my expenses have gone up due to rising grocery costs, having some things delivered, buying masks, hand sanitizer, and home sanitizers.

(22,052 posts)We did get the first payment but never heard a word about the $600. Oh, well.

(22,052 posts)I think we may have made too much money last year to qualify.

(18,874 posts)SS people who don't file can really use the extra.

(15,978 posts)But when H&R Block did my taxes, they automatically took the 600 dollars off my taxes. So instead of 1070 being owed. I only owed 470. Happy day!

(2,039 posts)She received the first one by direct deposit, but nothing on the second. She filed her taxes in Feb. and received the refund with the second stimulus included.

(2,186 posts)I got the first "EIP" but not the second one. This article explains what could have happened and has a link to the IRS to see if it was sent or not. If it was sent and you didn't get it, there's a trace you can initiate.

(3,984 posts)So they didn't send it automatically.
My 2020 income returned to normal so I was able to claim the Rebate Recovery Credit and get the payment as part of my tax refund.

(5,186 posts)I haven't gotten the winter $600, even though to get the spring payment, I had to give my direct deposit info online so the feds should have it on file.
I still haven't filed my 2020 return yet. I may owe less money now that the deduction for UE is in the new bill.

(892 posts)The weird thing is when I checked the Get My Payment site, it said the money was scheduled for direct deposit on March 6th.
It never showed up.

(892 posts)Also, the Get My Payment site had mentioned the last 4 digits of our bank account number, so that would have been the correct account.
I had checked the site around the 1st of March. To be honest, I was very surprised that it didnt say information not available because thats what it had always said every time I checked it before then.
A friend had called me on the 1st and said the site told him he would get his money on March 4th. Thats the only reason I went back and tried again. I had given up on ever seeing that money.
He got his money a day early, on March 3rd, so he told me he thought we should see ours deposited probably on March 5th. Nope. Never showed up.
We file taxes every year. So, I have no idea at all why we never received the $600.

(21,408 posts)about a month ago I got a letter in the mail asking me if I got my money. Since I had gotten my money I tossed the letter. I'm trying to remember who they said to contact. I'm thinking there is even a web site, Where's my stimulus, or something to that effect. Sorry I can't remember more details. Try Googling Where's My stimulus it may lead somewhere.

(17,197 posts)If one hasn't received their EIP2 within 7 days of receiving the letter, it says to check the status by going to "Get My Payment" at IRS.gov/eip or by using the "Where's My Economic Impact Payment" application on your smart device (?) or call 800-919-9835 for more information.
Nice of them to follow up on it, even though the odds of me not noticing that my account was suddenly $600 fatter are somewhere between slim to none.

(3,836 posts)I got the very first $1200 which was deposited into my account.
This year, when I did my 2020 taxes, I took the $600 as a 'tax credit' and supposedly will receive the $600 as a Fed refund. I Live on SSI, so without the 'tax credit' I wouldn't be filing Fed at all.
Guess it will take a while for the money to drip slowly down the pipe, but who knows for sure?

(4,112 posts)We only got a couple hundred bucks in the first round. The WaPo calculator says we should get something this time, but I'm not counting on it. Our income has dropped by about 30%, so it would help.

(14,077 posts)So I filled out this years taxes and claimed $600 on the Recovery Rebate.

(10,053 posts)We always file returns, but do it late (i.e. get an extension), but our first stimulus check wasn't delayed like this, so I don't know what's going on. So I'm concerned about getting the new check.

(10,885 posts)which left me a bit confused. I've received both of the two stimulus payments in check form during their wide distribution period. The new payments of $1,400 have just been approved, but without release dates as yet. So, why is this letter tell me I should be receiving a check in/about seven days? If it's not the older payments and it's not the new future payment, what payment is it? Duh....

(29,570 posts)through my records, we too received the second payment, way back in early January. I don't know why neither of us remembered that when we got the letter. I am blaming insurrection shock. That's my story and I am sticking to it. It sounds way better than simultaneous senior moments.

(36,747 posts)Didnt get any of the $600 and wont get any of this one.
Dont really need it. Let it go to people who need it.
