MAGA rioter demands Texas trial because DC jurors would be too eager to 'cancel' her for 'white supremacy'Brad Reed
March 11, 2021
MAGA rioter Jenny Cudd, who infamously boasted on video about breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office, is now demanding that her trial be held in her home state of Texas due to concerns about bias of jurors in Washington D.C.
Reuters legal reporter Jan Wolfe flags a new filing made by Cudd's attorneys that claims D.C. jurors would be far more likely to unjustly "cancel" Cudd because they'd believe that she's a racist.
"There is a social expectation of punishment for anyone accused of being a 'white supremacist,'" the filing states. "In Washington, D.C., people have been readily 'canceled' for being politically conservative and for their public support of Donald Trump."
Given how many people in Washington D.C. are so eager to "cancel" racists, the filing continues, it would be impossible for Cudd to get a fair trial there.

(37,161 posts)...the age old practice of being done with someone after they've shown you what they are. It got coined when people dropped "social media influencers" because they started showing their jackass sides, but it's become a new chew-toy word for wingnuts as the greatest threat to the republic since the last couple of chew-toy words, "woke" and "politically correct".
Any time anyone doesn't want to deal with their bullshit, they shriek about being "cancelled".
Meanwhile, they don't even recognize when they themselves do it (ask them about CNN, MSNBC, the NYT, WaPo, etc.)

(14,766 posts)I know it happens in federal cases that changes of venue get granted, but I have no idea what the guidelines are or the process involved.
What are the chances a judge would grant a change of venue in a case like this?
Where would the trial get moved to (I bet it doesn't have to be west Texas, just out of the DC area if granted)?
She probably does have a point that she would face an unsympathetic jury in the DC area, but that is not the same as a biased jury pool.
Just curious.

(7,218 posts)But she has not been charged with being a 'white supremacist. Because it is legal to be vulgar shit.
What is she confessing to here?
(What she is hoping for is jury nullification.)
As a side note: Im a white male who lived in the heart of DC for two decades and served on three juries in the DC Superior Court (and damn lucky not to get picked by the federal court next door.) I never found race to be an issue with any of my fellow jurors, half of whom were African-American.
