I received one of the most nasty pieces of mail imaginable today -

a complementary issue of The Epoch Times with an offer to subscribe for only $139.00 a year. As expected from Epoch, it was full of lies and conspiracy theories. This right wing propaganda rag surely has grown from back in the days when it was nothing but a Chinese cuckoo religious group. They're claiming Biden is resigning so Kamala Harris could take over and install a communist government. Then there are all the Big Lie stories about what they call "Election Integrity". That's just a tiny sample. This thing has three sections of 10-12 pages each.

I wonder who is funding this crap? The NY Times investigated them at one time, but I don't think even they could find who were the high rollers financing them.

AFAIK, Epoch Times is published by Fulan Gong, or one of their offshoots. They're the people who put on all those Shen Yun shows: signs for them are plastered all over the Bay Area every winter (come to think of it, I haven't seen any sign of them this year - but then I haven't been anywhere). I wonder where their money is coming from.

There was a pay wall, so I didn't read it, but I did research the source. It seems they have paid over 1 million dollars for right-wing advertising on facebook. Sadly, a dear friend is now a Trumper and passing on these vile posts. One such: We owe Illegal Immigrants Nothing! My response was: But do we owe the Native American's anything?

It went over her head. She actually clicked Like on my response. She is so conflicted. A rock n roller still, loves horses and animals and nature, was into belly dancing for a while, into peace, love, all that (she lives in Maui after all). But now she is dating a biker guy, and clearly he and his friends have had a bad influence on her. I hope it is just a passing phase. I will not give up on her, I will keep trying to point out the lies in the memes she posts, and ask her why she is passing on Russian and Chinese propaganda.
