(25,863 posts)I'm beginning to wonder about those numbers.
And given reports like 49% of GOP men say they won't get it, I'd have thought that by now everyone who really wants the vaccination would have gotten it.
Instead, I got a sternly worded email from the state department of health telling me not to call around to try to find where I can get the shot, that they'll let me know when I finally get to the top of the list.

(5,008 posts)I was on the state list and a list for my military provider. I never got called for an appointment. I started searching other areas on my own. Searched random zip codes and found it in a different part of my state. We had to drive across the state because our governor blocked our age except for a couple of areas that were doing a good job with vaccinations. HOWEVER, I have friends that searched individual sites (Walmart, CVS,etc) and they were able to find appointments within like 30 minutes of their home. I would continue to look and refresh pages. You never know when one could become available. Hope you are able to get an appointment soon.

(244 posts)You have to be proactive. Im in NC - 56 and high risk. NC still hasnt opened to my group. It will next week. Probably doesnt matter because theres next to no availability around me. In the meantime SC opened to anyone over 55 last week. Played around and found a clinic around 2 1/2 hours from me. No problem getting an appointment and they had no problem with me and my husband coming from out of state. Got our first shots this week and second appointment is scheduled. They even joked with me about winning the prize for the person that travelled the furthest to get to them. LOL
If you have transportation, I suggest looking in the more rural areas. For some reason they seem to have more supply. Either that or a higher population that is refusing the vaccine. We even enjoyed the drive. Its the closest thing weve had to a trip in a year. 😃
