Interest in 9/11-style probe of US Capitol attack has cooled, but still possible

The call for a 9/11-style commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has lost some political momentum, but congressional supporters of the idea said they’ll keep fighting for it.

after the 9/11 Commission? It was an ineffective white wash, so I am not interested in the same same thing for the January 6th insurrection. I will be satisfied with prosecutions, as long as it includes the likes of Gosar, Cruz, Hawley, et al.

The traitors need to be exposed, investigated and prosecuted.

If found guilty, they must be punished.

Letting Cruz, Harley, Gosar, etc. off only encourages them to try harder next coup.

I think we can also investigate and attempt by members of the government to overthrow the country. Maybe.

4. I'm fine with a 9-11 style investigation or even a Benghazi-style investigation. But then

I'm not one of the insurrectionists or their backers.

Many of the insurrectionists, however, are sitting in jail while their backers are sitting in state and national government positions doing all they can to obstruct investigations. I hope to see that change soon, with the backers being indicted and jailed also.

What comes out in Grand Juries and Criminal Courts just might be the answer to all of my concerns.

6. Looks like DOJ will have to do the heavy lifting.

That may be for the best, given how badly such political investigations usually go. 9/11 is a good example of failure to hold anybody accountable.

5. Given the state of the repub party, it's hard to imagine any bi-partisanship in something like this.

so I remain a bit divided on the issue. I'd love to see something along that line, although previous efforts have had their problems, dating back all the way to the Kennedy Assassination and Watergate.

I'm kind of good with just letting DoJ keep digging, now that we have a real LEO in charge.
