Did anyone have any reactions after their second moderna shot?

I'm getting my second moderna shot on the 27th.
after my first shot I had a sore arm and some extra fatigue for about a day and a half and that was it.

My ex had about a week of flu symptoms after her second moderna shot.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who did have any reactions and if you did not have reactions. I realized that we are all different and that we all will react differently.

I intend to stock up on food and prescriptions so that I can just lie low if I do have any problems and ride it out.

I have been told by people who did have reactions that it was worth it to now be fully protected.

I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks

I think the CDC has changed this recommendation.

Can you take Tylenol or ibuprofen after getting the vaccine?

The Centers for Disease Control says that you can take over-the-counter pain medicine, such as ibuprofen (like Advil), aspirin, antihistamines or acetaminophen (like Tylenol), if you have side effects after getting vaccinated for Covid. As with any medication, the CDC recommends talking to your doctor first.

I had a sore arm for about three days. It felt like Muhammad Ali abused the heck out of it. I also felt feverish, fatigued, and like I wanted to stay in bed. I took Tylenol and coffee and just pressed through it. I got the shot on a Thursday and was totally normal come Monday. Friday and Saturday were the worst.

I stretched the Tylenol out to about a six or seven hour interval. The side effects weren’t so bad that I just couldn’t stubborn myself past them to do my day. It just took mental effort.

During the night of the shot I felt mildly ill, the next day more ill.
Bad headache, dizzy, body aches, loss of appetite, a bit queasy, and very very tired.
No fever or any other symptoms. I have been sleeping a lot. Today I am a bit better,
but still feel dizzy and disoriented. Talking to a friend on the phone today I asked what day it was.

It is not by any means the sickest I have ever felt, but sick enough to stay in bed for two days.

Yes I highly recommend that you have soup, bread for toast, and sprite or ginger ale ready.
I am so dizzy that I would not get into a car and drive.

I was not sure if I would get sick or not, but I made sure I had everything I would need ahead of time. And friends and family have been checking on me.

Edit to add: I forgot to say that I have a very sore arm.

The rest of us had sore arms and fatigue. The 2 young guys had headaches, neck aches, fatigue, and chills for over 48 hours. They both took Tylenol the second day when the headache got bad. That helped. I heard that young people react more because they have better immune systems. But then it was over and we are all vaccinated. (BTW, they are healthcare worker and teacher so eligible in Virginia).

Feb 19th. We were both wiped out for 24 hours with body wide aches and extreme fatigue. Nighttime was the worst as it was hard to sleep not only because of the aches but it made us extremely restless. I also have fibromyalgia so I experienced bursts of nerve pain randomly throughout my body. No fever though. But it all resolved in 24 hours and we have no regrets. It’s amazingly relieving to not worry constantly about coming down with Covid. Of course we are still masking and sanitizing hands.

Got shot up with the first shot of the Moderna vaccine Jan 17th and second shot Feb 11th. After first shot had the common "flu shot arm" soreness for day 1,2,3. Day 4,5,6 felt like I had been stomped on all over my body, hurting down to the bottom of my feet. Day 7 stopped eating and kept a bucket nearby. Day 8 shaking on and off with 102 deg fever in evening. Morning of day 9 all better, had taken max Tylenol dose over nite. Since then I have had consultations with four med Drs and have asked all if they had any side effects from the Moderna like what I experienced. All responded yes to some discomfort with "moderate" side effects following the 2nd shot, but nothing like I had with the 1st shot. All but one reported chills with fever lasting one or two days following their 2nd shot only. Was not looking forward to that 2nd shot Feb 11 and was bracing myself for the worst. Everyone had said its after the 2nd shot that the side effects show up the most. Got my 2nd at 3PM, got the chills by 9PM and 102.6 deg fever shortly after. Took the Tylenol and over the next two days had just very low fever and moderately sore arm for another week.

like it was preparing to release a stone to my bladder in a few hours, then all the pain subsided and nothing happened.

I had my second Moderna 2 weeks ago, and have experienced no discomfort whatsoever ever since them.

I'm 74 with COPD, so I consider myself fortunate not to have had a bad reaction to the vaccine. Good luck.

Soreness in arm, but no deep itching like with first dose.

Day 2, low grade fever, intermittent headache and much muscle achy-ness. Oddly my muscle around my first injection tightened. Camped on sofa all day and night.

Day 3, symptoms subsided leaving heavy fatigue.

Day 4 & forward, feeling great!

Holding off for now.
Maybe just a coincidence.

My arm didn't start to get sore until the afternoon. Had a nice one hour nap and then set myself up on the couch with layers and a blanket over my legs (to combat chills) and watched a couple of shows I'd recorded. Had chicken soup and a sandwich for lunch. Water and ginger ale while watching shows, and going to make some more soup shortly. Not really hungry. Don't feel feverish, but do have more body aches than with the first shot.

The strangest thing happened this morning when I woke up. My knee replacement knee had stiffened up and I could barely walk. This was several hours BEFORE the shot. Normally I would take Tylenol arthritis for joint pain, but I didn't because I've read it's not good to take it prior to the shot. Just put ice on/off it until time to leave for shot. I discussed whether to take it after the shot with the nurse and she said unless I have side effect symptoms, don't. So, I've been rotating ice packs on my knee to settle the inflammation down on it.

I wonder whether the knee inflammation is a long term side effect from the first shot? While I've had occasional tightness in that knee since the surgery almost four years ago, I've never had it stiffen up so suddenly and painfully on me. I couldn't even walk on it when I got out of bed. Had to limp down to the front door at the other end of the house to get my cane out of the umbrella stand!

Time for some soup and another ice pack on the knee, which is much better than it was this morning.

Temp nearing 102. Chills out of proportion to the fever. Fatigue and general achiness. The achiness was worse with the second one - especially my hips. Nausea with the first one but not with the second. I did not go to work the next day, both times. I'm a nurse practitioner in a pediatric office, and we are not supposed to go to work with fevers. About 36 hours of symptoms both times.

Large roughly rectangular area of redness in my arm after the second dose - about 2 inches wide and got to be 5 inches long. Quite itchy.

I also noticed a metallic taste in my mouth. That is resolving. No loss of taste or smell.

I had the virus itself in early December, and those symptoms, which came and went for 10 days, were somewhat milder than those from the vaccinations. I figure my immune system, having already battled the actual virus, responded to the first shot as if it were the second one.
