So I just recently went back on Facebook after probably 7-8 years. Went looking for an old friend at Christmas to say hey. Actually, before Obama.

I am seeing all of these “friends” from my youth, and a whole lot are right-wing, Trumpers. I went to Catholic school, but was actually pretty liberal in 70s & 80s, for Catholic school.

So I am seeing all these stupid memes:

Gas prices soaring
- yeah, again your guy plunged the economy into the tank and prices dropped precipitously, again.

There’s chaos at the border
- cuz your guy effed that whole situation up for no good reason, but out and out racism.

And then this one:

Why are we sending our tax dollars to other countries?!!!!

- So this one has me perplexed. Haven’t we been doing this pretty much since the end of WWII? The Marshall Plan I believe. We continued throughout the Cold War to prop up struggling democracies around the world and it was one of our ways of showing our strength.

So these idiots have to know this, at least I would hope so. The main two in question were assholes back then and you know, I accepted them. So they may just be Newsmax and OAN Magats. Anywho, they put up all of these so posts in outrage over this policy that has been in place longer than they have been alive.

Point is, they have got nothing! No policy to push, just disparage and tear down.

One just posted something along the line of “I used to be willing to give my life in defense of this country. Now I’m more willing to give it to protect my family from what it has become.”

Im tempted to ask him how he got to DC on 1/6.

2. People like to pretend that foreign aid is hard to understand. It isn't.

We used to offer agricultural aid to Colombia, to get them to grow food crops instead of cash crops (coca). When the Republicans cut that budget, the Colombian farmers ripped up their food crops and went back to planting coca. This is why we still have a drug problem.

We used to offer aid for public education to Pakistan. When that budget got cut, they closed the public schools, and the kids went to Madrassas instead.

Foreign aid helps us by helping other countries.

7. And GQP cutting foreign aid

and refusing to fund it is a big reason why there are so many immigrants at the southern border and so many from Africa and the Middle East risking their lives to get to Europe.

It was always predictable that if struggling third world countries don't get the help they need to develop their economies and provide some stability then many immigrants will be trying to move to the more developed economies of the first world for a better life.
