but if anything could be 'cancel culture', it is Hasbro's decision to retire antique monopoly cards like 'bank error in your favor', and 'second prize in a beauty contest' in favor of 'new cards like Shop Local, Rescue A Puppy or Help Your Neighbors. ; That the whole setup was antique was part of it's charm.

Guess the OP just expects this will be the new NEWS that distracts from relevant and ACTUAL News.

It should be supplemented with: "Did you know that the United States incarcerates more citizens per capita than any other nation in the world? Also, the U.S. has begun privatizing its prison system, putting profits ahead of rehabilitation."

Board games are experiencing a bit of a resurgence right now, I wonder if Hasbro, or whatever is just trying to modernize it a bit

(11,639 posts)The problem is not that hasbro changes the message on some cards in its game presumably to make it more modern, the problem is that people want to point to this as some huge meaningful change with cultural impact and to cry about the loss of some simpler bygone era when most of the people got fucked regularly without remorse.

(5,125 posts)For so many years, the right said "Let the market decide" when "the market" was mostly white people buying stuff.
NOW that "the market" is more diverse and demands more inclusive choices, they decry the "loss" of their domination of the market.
This isn't a "regurgitation" of a meme, it's simply pointing out that what the Reich finds relevant is really less than special.
It gives people the power to push back against the "Cancel Culture" meme.
Discussion is NOT promotion.
