carry state is a law abiding citizen, or a killer?

Public toting needs to be banned with limited exceptions everywhere. Then, if you see someone with a gun, you know they are up to no good.

(20,585 posts)We have had incidents of men carrying weapons into local stores. If I see that - I am out of there. Open Carry is just plain stupid.

(4,845 posts)Why would you need to carry a gun into the deli, the gas station, or a supermarket? I am not against owning guns but there is no reason to carry your gun to every place you go. It's not about taking away your freedom but just keeping everyone safe in the most common sense way.

(49,445 posts)But open carry, that is, no concealing your gun, should not be allowed in cities and town.
It should be limited to handguns, and they should be concealed underneath clothing or in a purse or something.

(102,304 posts)the ordinance that Denver passed. Home Rule designation gives a city the right to pass its own ordinances on this and other matters. I'm not sure which have.

(49,445 posts)If I was to write this law, it would look something like this:
"Open carry of any firearm is illegal on any public property or right-of-way in any incorporated municipality, except as required for on-duty sworn law-enforcement officers."
I guess you could put in some clause about a declared emergency being an exception.
Short answer is, you don't. But "open carry" doesn't mean "permitless carry", it means non-concealed carry. I'm a gun owners with a concealed-pistol permit, and I don't think open carry should be legal.
Like all aspects of life, you don't really know what the person next to you is going to do at any given moment.
